Editorial policy

Who writes

Shield articles are written by François Aichelbaum, operational security consultant. Each article is his responsibility: no content delegated to interns, no outsourced writing, no AI-generated text without critical review and field contextualization.

Method

Shield does not publish rumors or summaries of summaries. Recommendations are based on:

• primary sources — official documentation, academic publications, government agency advisories (ANSSI, CISA, BSI);
• practical tests on recommended tools and configurations;
• field experience from real missions, anonymized.

No sponsored content. No commercial affiliation with cited tools. When a tool has a paid version, it is stated unambiguously.

Publication frequency

Shield prioritizes depth over cadence. An article is only published when it is operationally useful — not to fill an editorial calendar. The target frequency is two to four articles per month, depending on the threat landscape.

Review policy

Security evolves fast. An article accurate in 2023 can be dangerous in 2025 if recommendations have changed. Each Shield article carries a review date displayed directly below the title — not just in metadata.

The lastReviewed field is updated whenever an active check has confirmed the content remains valid, or whenever a correction has been made. A review is not cosmetic: it involves testing recommendations, verifying sources, and updating obsolete sections.

Goal: no published article goes beyond 12 months without review. Articles on fast-moving topics (authentication, mobility, legal framework) are reviewed every 6 months.

Independence

Shield does not accept editorial partnerships, sponsored content, or paid links. The only outbound links are primary sources, tools cited for their merit, or complementary resources without commercial consideration.

If a position changes — because the threat changes or because an error was made — it is clearly stated in the article, with the date of the correction.
